Welcome to the University of St Andrews Cricket Club
Welcome to the University of St Andrews Cricket Club. Over the past five years the club has grown to become one of the principal clubs within the University. The strength of the cricket club, both on and off the field, has been recognised by the University through the 2005 “Team of the Year” award.
A good standard of cricket is played by 1st, 2nd and 3rd XI’s. The club prides itself on its position as one of the top clubs in Scotland. Cricket teams from St Andrews have won both the outdoor and indoor Scottish championships in recent years. This success is due to a thorough training programme and regular overseas tours.
Since 2000 the club has sent teams to South Africa 2002, Bangladesh 2003 and Grenada 2004 & 2007. The club will once again be embarking upon an overseas tour in early 2008.
The club also aims to provide an avenue for budding cricketers to improve through coaching and both 3rd and 4th XI fixtures. The cricket club provides excellent opportunities for players of all abilities combined with a friendly atmosphere and an extensive social programme.
Congratulations to all those who played for the university this year.
The 2007 season is now over for us, and BUSA have calculated the final league standings. We are delighted to announce that we are 1st XI Scottish Champions for this year. The 2nd XI also won their league and the 3rd XI were runners up in Trophy Tier 2. As a result, the 1st and 2nd teams have qualified for the national BUSA knockouts. All in all, this season has been one of the most successful we've ever had - let's build on it next year!
The club wishes you all an excellent summer with runs and wickets aplenty! For those that are leaving thanks very much for your services to the club.
Next year be preparted for 2008 overseas tour hopefully to India or Bangladesh and also a 2nd XI tour is in the pipeline.
